Pregnancy is a beautiful time, where a couple grows their family. Along with it come a million questions!! What to eat? What to do, and not to do? How to have a healthy baby? etc...

Many couples turn to google and social media only to feel overwhelmed and more confused.

This is where Utsav classes help.

Utsav's Pregnancy Care and Birth Preparation Workshop helps you to learn how to handle pregnancy and prepare for an easy birth. At the end of the workshop, you can create your own healthy routine to follow for the second and third trimester.

This routine will help you manage the many discomforts of pregnancy (heart burn, back pain, foot swelling, mood swings etc), improves your stamina and flexibility and also gets your baby into a good position for birth.

- Yoga and exercises for the second and third trimester

- Bonding with the baby

- Healthy postures to follow during sitting and sleeping

- Managing common discomforts during pregnancy

All the above topics are covered in 2 Sundays. Totally we will spend 5+ hours to learn all about healthy pregnancy and baby.

Labour Management

As labour time nears, a million thoughts arise in your mind. How will it go? Will the pain be manageable? Will it be a normal delivery or cesarean? Will everything go well? So many questions. And all the answers are here in the Utsav Labour and Birth Workshop. 

In this workshop you will understand labour, learn to manage the pain and prepare for positive birth experience. This workshop will prepare you to handle the known and the unknowns of the labour land with confidence. All topics are covered over a weekend. Totally we will spend 5+ hours to understand and prepare for birth.

Part - 3 Pain and Birth

  • Why labour is painful?

  • Natural techniques to manage labour pain - breathing, relaxation, hypnosis, birth ball, acupressure and more

  • Practical tips and real life scenarios (from a birth doula)

  • Medical pain relief options and decision making

Part - 4 When baby has other plans

  • What to do when plans don't work

  • What to do when labour does not progress

  • When a cesarean becomes necessary

  •  Preparing for a positive cesarean experience 

The techniques taught in this class have been specially created by me with my background as a physiotherapist, yoga teacher and my practical experience of being a birth doula. I’ve assisted hundreds of moms to have an easy birth and some have even slept in the labour room(without an epidural!)

Fourth Trimester

It is said that "When a baby is born, a mother is also born" The first 6 weeks after the birth of a baby is the "Fourth Trimester"

 

This is the period where the baby's nervous system gets primed to face the world and the future health of the mother is highly influenced. Many couples struggle with sleep, understanding what the baby needs, breastfeeding and parenting during this phase.  

The "Fourth Trimester" course by UTSAV is designed to help you handle this phase with ease and confidence. This in-depth course will help you to understand the needs of the new mom and baby, learn how to recover from birth, understand the basics of breastfeeding and also become confident for handling and caring for your baby. 

Held over 2 Saturdays, this online course is for couples in the third trimester of pregnancy and new parents.

 

*Caring for the new Mom*

  • Changes faced by a new mom

  • Challenges after normal delivery and caesarean

  • Things to do for recovering after a normal delivery

  • Preventing the most common complications after a caesarean

  • Appropriate diet for the mom to heal and make more milk

  • Postpartum depression

  • How can a family support during this phase

 

*Caring for a Newborn*

  • Understanding the needs of a newborn

  • How to create an environment that gives the best start for a newborn

  • How to hold and lift a newborn

  • Bonding and parenting

  • Infant massage and bathing(with demo)

  • Handling issues like newborn jaundice

  • Resources and intro to various methods like babywearing etc

 

*Breastfeeding*

  • The GOLDEN HOUR

  • Understand how milk is made

  • Feeding cues and positions

  • How to make more milk

  • How to identify if baby is getting enough milk

  • Preventing common issues

  • When to reach out to a professional

  • Tips to manage your sleep and sanity during the first few weeks with a newborn

Lactation Consultation

Online Lactation consultation is also provided to help new moms deal with breastfeeding issues like low milk supply, nipple pain, reducing formula feeds and other such concerns. Timings can be mutually fixed. Please contact me on whatsapp for booking a slot.

Personalised Postnatal Yoga

Postpartum Yoga classes are customised online one to one yoga classes specially designed for the moms who have given birth. A detailed assesment is done, for core muscle weakness, diastasis recti, pelvic floor issues and other postpartum concerns, and the sessions are designed accordingly.
